Welcome to Our Class Blog!

by Ms. Westbrook

Hi Everyone,
This blog is meant to be a space where you can talk about environmental issues that interest you.
Perhaps we cover a topic in class that you would like to cover more thoroughly on your own.  Maybe your goal is to share with the rest of the class some of the research you and your group are doing and what you have learned so far. Or maybe you have a personal connection to an issue that we don't have time to cover at all.  There are current events going on all the time that will be interesting to the whole class.  And this just might be the opportunity for you to talk about issues you find passion for.

So as you can see, the options are limitless!

Here are a couple of guidelines for you.

  • Be sure to write your name at the top of the blog!
  • The more personal your point of view, the better.
  • Everyone loves photos! Those are always nice to include but not necessarily...necessary.
  • The length varies but remember; this is a major grade.  So give it your best, make it interesting, unique, and well, at least three paragraphs if you really just need a number.
  • At the end of the entry, make sure to ask your readers two or three prompting questions for comments.  Make them open-ended.
  • If you are doing this from your own research, cite your sources through links at the bottom of the post.
Everyone is required to post a thoughtful comment on each post.  A "good job!" does not count as a thoughtful comment. You have one week from the timestamp on the blog post to add your comment from a 100.  If you post after that one week, the grade drops to a 70.  After two weeks, the 0 in the gradebook stands. The blog post dates are posted in the classroom so there is no excuse to not do this in a timely manner.

I really enjoy reading the blogs and the comments and I do read every single one!

Happy Blogging!!
